Priestley Homes will carry out £2.2million of restoration works on this historical Holmfirth mill, Green Lane Mill to create 11 luxury, two-bedroom apartments.
Transformation of a former historical Holmirth mill
The plans for the scheme – a joint venture with GJR Developments – were originally submitted and subject to an 18-month appeal process. After that they will see the transformation of the former mill building into a high-specification residential development for local owner-occupiers.
Holmfirth town centre and Huddersfield is situated a few miles from Green Lane Mill. As a result prospective residents will benefit from easy access to a variety of green spaces, including the nearby Peak District National Park.
In Q3 2019 a six-month programme will commence and will be carried out by the developer’s contracting arm, Priestley Construction. Completion is expected Q1 2020.
The project team comprises contractor, Priestley Construction; architects, Priestley Design Ltd; planning consultant, Indigo Planning.
Nathan Priestley, chief executive officer of Priestley Homes, said: “We’re thrilled to have been given the green light to transform this exquisite building into sophisticated new homes. Our talented team is excited to bring the property back to its former glory.
“Initially our original plans were fully supported by the Local Planning Authority, which indicated the merit in transforming a disused building into much-needed homes in the area. However, unfortunately the scheme took 18 months to receive approval by committee despite hitting all necessary planning policy benchmarks from the offset.
“Above all Our resilience during this process, which should have been a straightforward planning application, demonstrates our commitment to the scheme and to bringing luxury, contemporary apartments to this sought-after market town.”
